This set of 2 wooden Maracas in red is great for small hands. It will encourage rhythm, beat and musicality in your child.

Extend Play and Learning

To introduce musical concepts to your child, encourage them to play with their maracas in different ways. Call out some playing instructions, such as "fast" then "slow", "quiet" then "loud" to familiarise them with these musical concepts. Once they have mastered this, talk to them about beat. Put some music on and holding one maraca demonstrate playing to the beat. Encourage your child to join in by copying you. As they start to master this, give them an opportunity to play independently to the beat.

For children who are already able to do these things, challenge them with a rhythm game. Take one maraca and play a simple and short rhythm. Get them to listen carefully and try to copy the rhythm. If they can do this easily, make the rhythm harder. This is great for developing their listening and patterning skills.
